It is with utmost pride I’m sharing this. India has successfully put its first satellite ‘Mangalyaan’ into orbit around Mars. It is a proud moment for the country for a number of reasons –
- #1st country to succeed in its first attempt to enter Mars orbit
- #4th country in the world to put a mission in Mars (after US, Russia and Europe)
- India’s Mars mission has a price tag of about $74 million, a fraction of the $671 million cost of the U.S. NASA’s latest Mars program and less than $100M of what it took to make the movie ‘Gravity’.
